The Faroese government has published
its annual accounts for 2003. They showed a profit of 22 mill. DKK as compared
to a profit of 191 mill. DKK in 2002. In September 2003 the profit was
estimated to be 60 mill. DKK.
This difference from the budget to the
accounts of 2003 stems from both higher expenses and lower income. The expenses
are higher than estimated in September 2003 due to higher extraordinary
expenses in the latter months of 2003. One extraordinary expense was due to a
ruling going against the government. And following wage-negotiations in October
higher expenses than budgeted were needed. The incomes are lower due to lower
tax income than expected.
